OH HI, NEW YEAR

It’s been quite a year, hasn’t it? Full of ups, downs, and all things in between.

Contrary to popular belief, I think 2016 has been very good year. However, I am looking forward to a fresh start and 2017 is looking very promising. Here’s a few things I did and will do at the start of the new year to set me up for a better tomorrow.

The morning routine For the past couple days, I’ve been instituting my own version of the Miracle Morning. Waking up at 5:30 (yes, AM), 6 mins of meditation, and a short yoga session helps me get my day off on the right foot.

If you’re looking to reboot your morning routine, I love Rebecca Campbell’s light sourcing guided meditation and Asana Rebel’s app has a couple quick practices to get your Om on in 6 mins or less.

Pamper myself To honor my physical body, I’ve taken more time to take care of me. From getting my bangs trimmed to a yoga class at my favorite studio to a luxurious bath with my favorite Lush bath products. A little pampering is a great way to show yourself love and compassion.

Clean and prep Of course, I have to do a few less luxurious things to get 2017 off on the right foot. Groceries, laundry, cleaning & straightening are just a few of the must-dos on my list.Today, I’m tackling a big project: going through the junk from under our bed.

If you need a little inspiration to start your own new year cleaning spree, I highly recommend Marie Kondo’s Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up.

Dance more My man got us tickets to see Sleater – Kinney on NYE and I couldn’t have imagined a better way to ring in the new year. Connecting with people I’m closest with, imbibing (just a little), and dancing around like a mad woman while Carrie and Corin sang me home.

There’s always a reason to celebrate and I’m making a mental note to dance much more in the new year!

How do you plan on making 2017 a better year?

For Auld Lang Syne

Wow, it’s been a whole year already! So much has happened in 2013, where do I even begin? With the coming of 2014, I wanted to take this time not just to look back, but to thank all of my greatest supporters.

My mission from day one has been to inspire those who are living on a modest paycheck to take another glance at their wardrobe and see it’s full potential. I truly believe that the way you present yourself to the world has the power to change your outlook on life. It’s easier said than done, but making a modest living and looking great is possible. Your wardrobe can reflect the person you want the world to see and you can do this on a limited budget.

I’ve gotten such great feedback from my readers. It’s beyond touching to hear that my words have made a positive impact on some of you. So much of PJA’s success is because of you, the readers. I can’t thank you enough for making a little time out of your day, (or week if you’re like me and let your blog reading pile up!) to stop and see what’s happening in my world.

A great big thank you to the businesses (Urbanity Style Sharing and Marmalade) for working with me on a couple collaboration posts. I’m so looking forward to working with you in the new year. Here’s a look back on our work together. Business love

A HUGE thank you to my girl, Jessie Marie, for coming with me on crazy mis-adventures to take some blog pictures! I REALLY couldn’t have done it with out you. Here’s a look at some of the amazing work she does. the looks

We all have so much to look forward to in this bright and shiny new year. Your budget is limited, but don’t let that limit your dreams. Let’s make 2014 the best year yet!

Resolution #3

My third resolution: put love into everything I do.

What the work really needs is more love and less paperwork. — Pearl Bailey

When you love your work, it shows. Filling that product or service with your heart and soul builds stronger and better relationships from the consumer to the CEO.

Loving where you work, your career, and living a passionate life is possible. I never would have thought I could make a living writing and shopping, but yet here I am! Since landing my dream job, my confidence has soared, my productivity has sky rocketed, and my work ethic has greatly improved. Having a love affair with my work builds trust and respect not just with my customers, but within my work place as well.

This is by no means a lucky streak. I worked my butt off before I found the right fit. This year, resolute to do what you love and love what you do. Work hard, hit the pavement, and see your efforts pay off too.
